ProstaFlow Ingredients: 7 Label Rows Checked, One by One

Quick answer. ProstaFlow lists seven rows, each with an amount: niacin 7.5 mg NE, calcium 18 mg, L-arginine 200 mg, L-arginine AKG 2:1 extract 200 mg, L-citrulline HCl 100 mg, L-citrulline malate 100 mg and beta alanine 40 mg. There is no proprietary blend, and no saw palmetto.

The printed ProstaFlow Supplement Facts panel with seven rows
The printed panel: seven rows, an amount against each, one capsule as the serving.
Key facts
  • One capsule is a serving, and each bottle holds 30 servings.
  • Five rows are amino acid forms. The other two are niacin and calcium.
  • The five amino acid rows add up to 640 mg per capsule.
  • There is no proprietary blend, so every row shows an amount.
  • Other ingredients: hypromellose (vegetable capsule), vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide.
  • Not in the capsule: saw palmetto, beta-sitosterol, pygeum, pumpkin seed, zinc and lycopene.

What are the ProstaFlow ingredients?

Here is the full list as printed on the panel. Serving size is one capsule. Servings per container are 30.

Niacin7.5 mg NE47%
Calcium (as calcium carbonate)18 mg1.5%

L-Arginine AKG 2:1 Extract200 mgnot listed
L-Citrulline HCl100 mgnot listed
L-Citrulline Malate100 mgnot listed
Beta Alanine40 mgnot listed

Other ingredients: hypromellose (vegetable capsule), vegetable stearate, silicon dioxide.

What should you check on each of the 7 rows?

Niacin, 7.5 mg NE

A vitamin amount that sits under the 35 mg US and 10 mg European upper intake levels. The flushing warnings tied to larger niacin doses do not apply at this level.

Calcium, 18 mg

A tiny amount, under a fiftieth of a day's calcium. It does a job inside the capsule rather than in the body.

L-Arginine base, 200 mg

Plain arginine. The 200 mg printed is the weight of arginine itself.

L-Arginine AKG 2:1, 200 mg

Two parts arginine to one part alpha-ketoglutarate. That ratio means roughly 133 mg of this row is arginine.

L-Citrulline HCl, 100 mg

A salt. Part of the 100 mg is the hydrochloride partner, so the citrulline is a little less than 100 mg.

L-Citrulline Malate, 100 mg

Another salt. The ratio is not printed, so the citrulline in this row cannot be worked out.

Beta Alanine, 40 mg

A free amino acid, so 40 mg is 40 mg. It is an exercise ingredient and is far below the doses used in its studies.

How much arginine and citrulline is really in one capsule?

Add the two arginine rows and you get about 333 mg: 200 mg from the base row and roughly 133 mg from the AKG row. A quick glance at two 200 mg rows would say 400 mg, which is too high.

The two citrulline rows add up to 200 mg of salt weight. The citrulline inside is lower than that, and the exact figure is not published. The malate ratio would settle it, and the label does not print it.

Which prostate herbs are not in ProstaFlow?

None of the well-known prostate botanicals appears on the panel. The capsule holds no saw palmetto, no beta-sitosterol, no pygeum, no pumpkin seed, no zinc and no lycopene.

The name describes the market it is sold into, not what is in the capsule. If you came looking for saw palmetto, this is the wrong bottle. Read the panel before ordering. The 2023 Cochrane review of saw palmetto and NCCIH's page on it are listed in our sources if you want to look at that ingredient directly.

What does the % Daily Value column tell you?

Only two rows carry a percentage. Niacin shows 47% and calcium shows 1.5%. The five amino acid rows show no Daily Value, because none has been set for them.

That blank is normal. It is not a hidden figure. It does mean you cannot judge those rows by percentage. The only ways to judge them are the milligram amount and the dose used in research, which is why we set the two side by side on our testing page.

The 1.5% for calcium is worth a second look. It is small because the amount is small. The row is there to help the powder behave when the capsules are filled.

How should you compare this label with other products?

Use the same four questions on every bottle, whatever the brand.

  1. Is every row given an amount, or is it hidden in a blend?
  2. Is the form named, such as base, hydrochloride or malate?
  3. Is a ratio printed where a ratio exists?
  4. How does each amount compare with the dose in the study the seller points to?

ProstaFlow answers yes to the first three, with one exception: the malate ratio. On the fourth question the answer is that the amounts are much lower. We write about other products only in general terms here. The checks apply to any label.

What is the capsule made of, and is it vegetarian?

The shell is hypromellose, a vegetable capsule. The other two ingredients are vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide. The label does not say "vegetarian" on the front, but the other-ingredients line shows a plant-based shell, so the product suits a vegetarian diet.

If you have a known sensitivity to any of those three, talk to your doctor before use.

How do you read the label on your own bottle?

  1. Find the serving size. It should say one capsule.
  2. Find servings per container. It should say 30.
  3. Read all seven rows against the table above.
  4. Check the 2:1 printed on the arginine AKG row.
  5. Read the other-ingredients line.
  6. Read the suggested use, the storage line and the caution.
  7. Look at the base of the bottle for the lot and a best-before date, where printed.

If anything differs, keep the bottle and call the order desk on +1 (877) 257-0710.

Frequently asked questions

What are the ProstaFlow ingredients?

Seven rows: niacin 7.5 mg NE, calcium 18 mg, L-arginine 200 mg, L-arginine AKG 2:1 extract 200 mg, L-citrulline HCl 100 mg, L-citrulline malate 100 mg and beta alanine 40 mg. The other ingredients are hypromellose, vegetable stearate and silicon dioxide.

Does ProstaFlow contain saw palmetto?

No. The capsule has no saw palmetto, beta-sitosterol, pygeum, pumpkin seed, zinc or lycopene. It is built from amino acids plus niacin and calcium.

Is there a proprietary blend?

No. An amount is printed for every one of the seven rows.

What does "AKG 2:1" mean?

It means two parts arginine to one part alpha-ketoglutarate. So the 200 mg row holds about 133 mg of arginine.

Is ProstaFlow vegetarian?

The capsule shell is hypromellose, a vegetable capsule, so the product suits a vegetarian diet.

Is the citrulline amount known exactly?

No. Both citrulline rows are salt weights, so the citrulline is less than 200 mg in total. The malate ratio is not printed, so the exact figure is not published.

Our view

The panel is the best thing about this product. Seven rows, seven amounts and a ratio printed where it matters is more than many labels offer. It makes honest checking possible.

The same panel also shows the limit. These are well-known amino acids, but the amounts are small beside the doses their own studies used, and the herbs people expect from the name are not there. Know that before you buy.

ProstaFlow is a dietary supplement. It is not FDA approved, and nothing here is meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a disease. Ask your doctor about any medicine you take.
